Don was invited on a 7 day pack/elk hunting trip to the Beartooth Mountains in Montana.
It was 17 miles in to the campsite, a two day journey in that rough and rugged country.
Our little mustangs amazed the other members of the trip,
they couldn't believe that they could go that far with out shoes, and the one gelding, Scooter,
was a pack horse on the way in, and carried more weight than any other horse their.
In fact, he didn't even have to be led, as soon as they took off from the truck,
Don turned Scooter loose and he just followed as good as gold carrying the pack all the way.
No elk were taken on this trip, just a lot of great memories. Two members of the trip were vets,
and said by the end of the trip they had a whole new respect for these little horses and what they could do.
They were truly in awe of the hardiness of these spanish mustangs.
Our two were the only two horses that didn't either come up lame or get sore the whole week out there.
